Welcome to Class 2
Welcome back!
This term our topic we are learning about Food and Farming. In the first half term we will be cooking and trying food this will also be part of our RE special foods topic. In science we will be looking at plants- growng our own, animals- how to look after them and about their offspring, as well as everyday materials.
During the second part of the term we will be visiting Longdown activity farm and will meet the animals and learn how to look after them.
Within maths we will be looking at multiplication, division, measure and shape. It would be helpful if you could continue to practise the 2,10, 5 ( year 1), 3 and 4 times tables with your children.
Just a few things you will need to know
Please read as much as possible with your child and fill in their reading records either by ticking the middle section or writing a note about their reading (minimum 4 x per week) . We will encourage them to change their books every week. Should your child reach four ticks on the inside of their Reading Log for the week they will receive a Class Dojo for reading. Reading logs need to be handed in on a Friday and I will return them on the Monday.
Homework and spellings will go online Fridays. Spelling Shed is for the children to be able to practise their spellings and maths will be through Mymaths. Passwords will be sent to you via ClassDojo. Children will get dojos if they do more than one activity on Mymaths in a week. They can also earn a dojo for their weekly spellings.
Library visits will be Friday mornings.
The children are allowed two books out at a time for a two week period.
PE is on a Monday afternoon. This term we will be looking at dance ( linked to our dinosaurs) and then ball skills . We will also be doing other physical activities when they will not necessarily need PE kits - please make sure children have tracksuits as well as shorts and trainers/plimsolls that fit (we will be going outside if its dry). PE kits are a white T shirt, green shorts and tracksuits can be blue, black, green or grey.
"Out and About" and Forest School will be confirmed when we have the details. Please ensure that your child comes suitably dressed for Forest School activities, bringing a spare change of clothes, water bottle and a snack. We strongly recommend that your child has waterproof trousers and wellies.
