Hope everyone in Robin Class had a great Christmas  and thank you for all our gifts

from Mrs Phillips & Mrs Johnson XX

Last term we were looking at the Great Fire of London, thank you to all who HELPED your children with the houses and also to those who agreed that we could burn them it was a very exciting morning and gave the children the real image of how quickly the fire could spread. We had 20 houses and they were all burnt to the ground within 25 minutes. It surprised us all.

The children also wrote some fabulous diaries, imagining that they were back in 1644 and part of the fires.

This term we are reading Handa's Surprise we will use this book to compare our village/UK to Africa. We will be retelling the story and writing fact files about the animals. In science and PHSE we will be looking at being healthy. Looking at exercise, a healthy diet and using our senses. If you have not updated your childs food allergies please could you do so as we will be food tasting.

Within Math we will be looking at measure this includes, height, length and time. Then our next area of maths will be shape 2D, 3D and the properties of the shapes. It would be helpful if you could continue to practise the 2,5,10,3, and 4 times tables with your chilldren.

Just a few things you will need to know:

Just a reminder please read as much as possible with your child and fill in their reading records either by ticking the middle section or writing a note about their reading (minimum 4 x per week) , please feel free to change your child's book in the classroom, However we will encourage them to change them every week. Should your child reach four ticks on the inside of their Reading Log for the week they shall receive a Class Dojo for reading.

Homework and spellings will go out on Fridays. Please return all homework for the following Tuesday and Spellings Tests will be on Friday.

Library visits will be Friday mornings.

The children are allowed 2 books out at a time for a 2 week period.

PE is on a Friday morning. This term we will be looking at dance in particular African dancing. We will also be doing other physical activities when they will not necessarily need pe kits - please make sure children have tracksuits as well as shorts and trainers/plimsolls that FIT (we will be going outside if its dry).

On a Wednesday afternoon we will be going 'Out with Bee'. Please ensure that your child comes suitably dressed for Forest School activities on a Wednesday bringing a spare change of clothes, water bottle and a snack. We strongly recommend that your child has waterproof trousers and wellies.

Some of you have asked about phonics we use a website at the start of the session which I have placed below.
