Welcome to Class 2
Welcome to Robin Class from Miss Hind and Miss Warren!
We hope that you have all enjoyed your Christmas holiday and hope that your children are as excited as we are for the term ahead, we have plenty of ideas for fun and challenging learning.
Our topic this term is Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole.
The children will be looking at where Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole and who they are, what they are famous for and why we remember them today. This will allow us an opportunity to explore the Science behind their fame as well as the history. We will be looking at animals, including humans, their anatomy, health and how they grow and develop over time.
Within Maths we will be developing our skills in Time, Measurement, Statistics and transferring our skills in Addition and Subtraction and Multiplication and Division to word problems.
Children need to be able to explain HOW they work things out and explain WHY they have used the different strategies.
Just a few things you will need to know:
Just a reminder please read as much as possible with your child and fill in their reading records (minimum 4 x per week) , please feel free to change your child's book in the classroom. Should your child reach four ticks on the inside of their Reading Log for the week they shall receive a Class Dojo for reading.
Homework and spellings will go out on Fridays. Please return all homework for the following Tuesday and Spellings Tests will be on Thursdays.
Library visits will be Friday mornings.
The children are allowed 2 books out at a time for a 2 week period.
PE is on a Monday and Friday - please make sure children have tracksuits as well as shorts and trainers/plimsolls that FIT (we will be going outside if its dry).
On a Wednesday afternoon we will be going 'Out with Bee'. Please ensure that your child comes suitably dressed for Forest School activities on a Wednesday morning bringing a spare change of clothes, water bottle and a snack. We strongly recommend that your child has waterproof trousers and wellies.
Some of you have asked about phonics we use a website at the start of the session which I have placed below.
