Cheriton Primary School

Remembrance Service

The school were honoured to invite the community to join them for a service of remembrance today. At the church the children sang, accompanied by the orchestra, and read a range of poetry and bible verses.

Year 5 & 6 children then each presented a clay poppy which the dedicated to the memory of a family member. A large group of children attended school in their Beaver, Cub or Brownie uniforms.

The whole school then gathered at the War Memorial on the village green to observe a two minute silence. Members of the community were then invited to come to the Village Hall for a warm drink and a biscuit.

The children demonstrated a very mature attitude to the occasion and the symbolism and importance of the event was understood by many of them.

Thanks go to everyone involved especially Mrs Newson for organising the event agin this year.

We currently have spaces in Year 2 and Year 5.
